won DJ of the Month
in March 2012. I caught up and interviewed him, here's what he had to say about his experience of being a DJ
... Thanks for taking the time to do this interview funkyone. Tell us a bit about yourself, your name, age, where you’re from and an interesting fact
It’s the f-u-n-k-y-o-n-e aka f-u-n-k-d-o-c, I’m 23 years old, from Germany/Cologne/Nrw. MUSIC Is there a story behind your name funkyone?
No, not really. I’m just a funky type of soulbrother. What genre(s) of music do you blend/remix/mashup? What’s your favorite?
I’m open-minded for all kind of genres but rap is where my heart’s at for the most part. How long have you been making blends/mashups/remixes/DJ’ing?
Since a few years… I started to mix acapellas & beats in 2003/04, before I’ve started mixing I’ve made beats and I still do. What first got you interested in becoming a DJ?
Breaks, Scratches, Cuts, all that stuff. Being creative… take 2 records mix’em 2gether and create something new. What/who are you inspired by?
Everything and nothin’… life, music, people. (Is it too philosophically?!) Do you only do blends/remixes/mashups or do you DJ parties/clubs/events e.t.c?
I’m used to taking care of the music at parties of my friends here and there but not in clubs or events. Which software and hardware do you use to DJ and create remixes/mashups/blends?
I use Virtual DJ
for my mixes but it can’t beat some real 1’s & 2’s. Do you see DJing as a career or hobby?
I just love to do what I do… that’s the essence! What are you trying to do with your music? Do you want to help your community? Are you trying to get rich? What is your goal for your music?
Rich of course! I’m just playin’ put out good music, that’s it. Do you have any kind of management, publishing or distribution teamwork behind you? If so what are their responsibilities?
No. CRAZYPELLAS / INTERNET Can you tell us how you found CrazyPellas?
I was searching for acapellas and found cp. How has this website helped you in your musical journey?
I met a lot of talented people here who inspired & helped me in my music. Do you feel like the internet is helping you as an up and coming DJ?
Yes... it opended a door here and there. How do you think social networks such as Facebook and Twitter have affected the music industry?
