I'll try and check out the audio...I'm at work now, so I can't.

quick tip for recording with non traditional computer mics: wrap a bandanna around the computer mic. this helps A LOT. trust me i started out this way. Also get creative. rig it up to a mic stand or a broomstick. hip hop is about making the most out of what you have. also make sure you use headphones when you record and pan your takes extreme left (70 - 100%) or right. also do mutiple takes so your recordings stack against each other and have more density not loudness.

That shit don't sound studio. Not to hate, but it doesn't sound studio. The levels are okay and stuff, but the eqing and stuff sounds like you recorded it on a run of the mil microphone.

But I bought a 50 mic from best buy about a year and a half ago, and it can sound pretty damn good with a bunch of mixing.

i agree personaly i saved up and bought a apex 470 condencer mic and pop filter it was about $675 for the mic, phantom power unit(that came with the mic) and pop filter i also bought a mic cable that was $40 and a 1/4 to 1/8 patch cable for like 20 bucks and my music sounds good but not as good as mainstream music because they usualy use mics that cost like $1000 or more

this thread is old but if anyone do want to make they mic sound good #1 u got to get a decent RECORDING mic....most rappers b using performance mics wich is WRONG WRONG WRONG

2nd, it aint realy the mic that matters, wat matters more is your soundcard, i run a $100 USB mic but i got a NICE soundcard, so it sounds pro and its not even in a booth or nothing.

3. Try to put something (like a blanket or towel) BEHIND the mic, idk if wrapping the mic in a bandanda actually works, but I seriusly doubt it. A bandana is paper thin and absorbs nothing. Placing a towel or thick blanket behind the mic, (like on the wall behind the stand) will absorb the free sound that romes around as your recording

4. Dont mix bad. Just because its not at full blast doesn't mean people still cant hear it.

it's probably worth it to spend 200-300 on a nice ass mic and you'll be set.

you can really tell the difference on a track.

Wen it comes to usin wat u got, i've made due wit a $10 mic from walmart wit a $90 mic in the top part of my closet, aint got enuff for all that extra shit like phantom interface, wire, and stand

Evrything set up in my basement next to the water heater and the mic is tied to a coat rack wit a rubberband on it.
As amateur as it sounds ive received better quality than expected, all the songs on my soundclick and myspace page were recorded on a $10 mic wit a better than average sound.
