I personally don't think a song needs to fit any particular fuckin' formula(16-bars, or otherwise). Its gunna make a difference how much tha shits gunna get airplay if its long as fuck but, you can write a song with only one hook right in the middle, or no fuckin' hook at all,-it might not be a "Commercial Standard" track but if its lyically sick, an' got a bangin' beat then its gunna get play time on my system. Personally I think fools need to stop with this rhymin' by numbers/spit between the lines/flow from a recipie stlye-followin' directions off a pizza pop box writin'.

Ayo I'm not sayin' there is anything wrong with standard tracks-but every song does not have to be a stylistic, fuckin' clone!

Think outside the motherfuckin' box, You closed minded fools.

Yo Peace!

That are exactly my thoughts, i prefer songs without hooks. The hooks are what make songs boring after listing it 100 times becous when you listen a song a 100 times you heared the hook about 400/500 times...

On most songs i realy, realy like i just cut the hook out so its just lyrics

i think for an album there should be a couple, maybe 3 or 4 songs that are standard, by standard i mean

intro (8 bar)
hook (8 or 4 bar)
verse 1 (16 bar)
hook
verse 2
hook
verse 3
hook x2 or one hook and the outro

then the rest should be different formats

i like songs with a shitload of dope mc's goin at it with no chorus (think wu tang)

then you can have a song with two verses maybe 24 bars each

switch it up a little

lol i think i hit thanks by a accident o well

Thats what i usually go by writtin and making the beats but, sometimes

like for a real hard song the hook makes it sound bad like for somthin on a mixtape. But if the verses are fire then the hook makes the song known alot better.

Most niyyaz dont even KNOW HOW to write a 16 bar verse.... Shit, most niyyaz cant even write a song cause they cant read.

Anywayz, I like the 16 bar structure the most, but if its a rap to someone elses beat, than I will just get some homiez and we a flow thru the whole shit like fuck it.

I think that folks say 16 bars is the "formula" because it flows with the changes of the beats and it just sounds better in my opinion.

yeah I agree theres no need for hooks but some of ur tracks gotta have them coz not everyone is a real hiphop fan n some peeps need to get a poppy feel to the songs to buy ur shit! example - 50 cent. alll his songs have pop kind hooks n he sings in it.

though the real tracks are the ones which have an original concept. like eminem's stan or guilty conscience... in gc the em n dre did alternating dialogues n still it was played out loads of time!

so basically, DONT STICK TO A FORMULA but its okay to make a song or two like that
