Ok so...Im working on a few projects (Im being tight lipped about them for the time being) but I may be taking some (KEY WORD: SOME) fan suggestions....what makes a good album to you production wise and lyrically? What do you look for in songs/albums...and what will make you listen again and again...and last...what would make you walk away saying "That was a classic"
Key Things I Would Like Mentioned:
Production
Lyrics
Content
Features
Song Formats
and anything relevant that you could think of

ok this is what makes a album classic
the combination of production, content, flow, delivery, and timing
timing is probably the most important not just do u have to have the right material at the right time in relation to the world
but the songs u have to select the right songs to time with the mood of the album, there are so many albums that have 1 or 2 songs on the tracklist that just dont fit and mess the whole thing up

Give a well rounded album. That means I want to hear tracks that I could dance to, tracks that have stories, shit a girl track...give me a full plate of who you are. Also, make all the hooks as catchy as possible. That's always something good. Keep all the super lyrical stuff for the verses, and make the hooks good but make them catchy and memorable.

i would say you the 1st thing that jumps out to people are the tracks, which is what alot of people listen to 1st, and then of course having the lyrical content to match the production of tracks, you got to have something that will make people just keep listening to over and over, do what you feel is best for the project!!! peace

to me, most tracks got 2 have a cool, 5 sec start, cuz when i get an album, i just keep on pressing next till i hear something good for the first 5 sec, lol... and maybe i will take time later to listen to the rest, those 5sec songs r those that r going into my playlist in my WMP.
To me Every album should have atleast 2 powerfull tracks ie if u get my point, one should b rnb, dealing with a chick story, and one rought (gangsta like - cruck or something, maybe ragga) that can b danced....if danceable, it goes straight into the playlist!!!! as for rnb or slow, it depends in the story, aslong as it doesn't say "my girl cheated me with my brother" or something.....lol
as said before, the hooks count alot, cuz those r the ones u'll keep in mind after u heard a song.
Personaly, lyrics don't count that much to me (depending on the genre), aslong as what u say rhimes with the beat and it makes me node my head or lough for what it is, making me repeat that track for that particular sentence.
well, last.....no offence 2 anyone but... I HATE SELFISH GANGSTA's, they b all like "I got what u dont, i put a hole in ur skull" or "My ride got gold, with plentifull of hoes...",all over the album, with every-single-track saying it on-on-and-ON......damn!! when the truth is that they just rhiming words, when they can have millions of synonyms,
or words to play with from the dictionary, FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY! STOP promoting VIOLENCE!!!,haha!, sorry it had to come out :P.
to back up that...I love a cool written diss track, like from Fat Joe to 50 cents "My FOFOFO" or something, he realy got the truth of what 50 realy is.
And if it has a cool album artwork, its the best, i can look at the cd cover for hours, just trying 2 learn how they did it or getting some hidden, images or messages out of them :D !!!

The first and main thing is PRODUCTION, the song has to be well put together. Meaning the beat has to be right and the song has to ride it just right. Match the style of the beat with the emotion and content. Not the same old line after line spit the same way of every track. And of course the hook needs to be simple and catchy, or at least catchy. No repeating 4 lines the same way you would rap the verse.
The second thing is having a well put together project. The album as a whole needs to take you on a walk through you thoughts and experiences, similar to the way a movie has an introduction, a plot, a climax, and conclusion.
Third everything should be valid, no off the wall songs that dont flow with the rest of the album. Just what ever is relavent to you at the moment. Somthing that people could relate with.
