mos people usin CP (cool edit pro)
but I use AcidPro 4.0 (old version but is the best cracked)
Then an MXL 990 studio condensor mic with an M-Audio FastTrack Pro USB interface...

In the studio we use a Behringer B-2 Pro mic, mixer, ESI Juli@ soundcard, Adobe Audition 2 and Cubase SX 3 to record.

at this point im usin a radioshack 33-3044 and a noise reduction wire (that don't seem to be helping much)

and i use Adobe as well but acid is also a good choice depends on what your pc can handle

Audacity + some cheap microphone (until I can afford a condenser) and a Pioneer CT-F2121 tape deck recorder from the mid 1970's.
