Ok Im new to rapping and recording, Ive been doing it 4 only about 2 - 3 months now, I was wondering if any1 could help me out, and show me some good settings on cool edit pro 2.1 to make my mic and voice sound good and everything you know. I was told by dubz in my 187 group dat messing with the EQ, Reverb, and some over shit can make you sound like your in a studio, so if some1 could tell me what they use 2 record and give some settings and stuff to help me out it would be nice. Thank you! Peace!

I dont know how cubase is but all audio audio programs are preety much the same so ill try to help you out. Your friends were right about "messing" with the EQ and reverb will make it sound better, but if you do to much "messing" with them, and not know what your doing you will mess up your mix becuase of unproper eq.........i got school ill finish later today.

pro tools
but i say this watch your meters and a lot of your sound depends on your mic and your pre-amp if u need it or your soundcard
it depends on how u record and tha acustics in the room you are in also
recording kinda depends on what u use to record on

Im using an "AGK Perception 100" (mic) and a "Eurorack 1202 Mixer" and the regular sound card on the computer motherbord. It is pritty high quality stuff. I also herd there was way to level out ur recordings or something, so when ur recording ur voice may go up and down it will auto fix it 2 b the same level or something, if some1 could help me wit that. I have Cool Edit Pro 2.1 and Acid 5.0, if some could help me with that and the eq, and reverb, and other shit on those programs, plz do. I need da help. Thanks!

Now to finish...like i said before the prgrams dont mean ish. They just record. Not make them sound better. What makes them sound better is the quility of things your using like mics and mixers. but since you have pretty good equip, i would worry about proper levels. A good level is .5b for nething. Nething above that might distort but its hot enough for a good signal. After that you want to add eq. EQing will make or break your mix so dont go in there moving things you dont know nothing about. The best way to get the hang of things like these is to use the pre made settings on the plug ins 1st, then build from there. For reverb you dont want to much on it, a good reverb goes unnotices and adds to the quility not take a away. For Vocals i put a gate on them (Which means sound wont play above a certain level) so that way when the rapper is takes breaths you wont hear that. I also use a little bit of reverb on them. Waves true verb to be exact. Mixing down instros i put all the individ tracks on a seprate track. Them eq them accordingly. After that i mix them down to 1 track. Then do the best i can to master that. Which ussally is compression, little bit more reverb, and a maximizer.
Hope that help a lil.
