A problem Im having with this computer

i get annoyed having to record on other computers and go through all this extra shit to be able to lay something down...it slows down my work and makes me not even want to record because of all of tha extra shit i have to do

basically for some reason when i record on here it is recording tha beat on top of my vocals and i can't figure out why it is doing this any pointers that i can try because this computer is 1000 times better then tha one that i jus turned into a recording booth but basically i want to no what i can do to record on this one

tha vocals record clear and crisp accapella but when i try to record on top of instrumental it fucks up

R u recording in a sequencer?

if you mean a cool edit multi track then yesir my mic works everything works sept when i put tha beat in tha multi track and it record it records tha beat and its drivin me crazy

Well, I just recorded sumthin in Cool Edit Pro, and this is what I done.
I put my beat in Track 2, and recorded my Vocals into Track 1.

On Track 1, I clicked on that R square |R |, then clicked on Record, and my vocals recorded perfectly.

it doesn't really matter what track you put it in i honestly think that it may be da sound card on this pc cause im also noticing when i record or even talk into my mic while it is switched on i hear my voice coming out of my headphones

when I tried 2 record the 1st time in Cool Edit, it also recorded my beat.
So I fixed it by going to:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control

Then I clicked on:
Options -> Properties -> Cicked on the Recording button -> OK

Then the Recording Control box poped up, and I selected Microphone, turned the volume up, and closed the box.

The 1st time I tried recording I had Line In selected, and thats why it didn't work.
Try this, it might work 4 ya.

tried it millions of times i was doing that before i posted this does anybody have info on sound cards or other shit i can try

I'll be honest I have no idea, and it's hard to troubleshoot a computer unless you're right there....I hate computers...


anyway, yeah it could be a sound card...I hear Soundblaster cards are good and what not...what kind of mic are you using???

a compaq presario 5050 someone on my street threw it away so i wiped tha drive cleaned it got a new keyboard and screen loaded windows XP good as new it has not LOTS but enough space im workin wit like 32 free gigs after i got all my programs and over 3 gigs of samples songs ext ext

wish i could help, only thing i can think of is open up a differant program to record the vocals while the beat is in cool edit or vice versa, then mix em together. but you probably already knew that

prob just ur sounds settings of windows itself, is the mic coneccted to the right hole? , line in or the mic? cuz it has some difrences

maybe wrong settings in the program

maybe call the helpdesk of the prog?

i got a completely new pc after all of this but i still got that one imma figure out what to do i hope

Hmmm try going to the windows audio mixer and go 2 advanced under micrphone and cheCc the second option the +20db gain turn it off and turn it baCc on ya mic will be alot louder
