if not try playing with the stereo mix and mono mix settings in advanced recording options.

last resort, record the vocals on a spearate file altogether and then jst import it, u can edit the timing obviously once its in.

I've had this prob since i know anything abt recording,
i have 2 methods i use:
1. put the beat waydown such that it is recorded as noice in the wave, but im able to listen to it.
2. i play the beat in my ipod or mp3 full volume then record in ma pc.

ive always had to deal with this in my laptop, i generaly edit the noice in my wave in audition and it works.
