Make the jump to Logic....You will see how limited Garageband is later...I first started working in Garageband, but I went to Logic once I really started to get serious....You have no pitch or professional tools to work with in Garageband...The only thing I could suggest would be for you to use an external program to change octave/pitch then bring it back into Garageband...but that gets annoying

What exactly is Garageband? Is it a music editing program?

i hope im not off topic here but if i were trying to harmonize with myself lets say...theres two ways i do it...the first would probably be the most conventional way i would think and thats to find the notes that match on a piano..u know...find a three note chord you can handle and play each note seperate to find the right key...if u match the notes.... voila...they will blend...

u should maybe download "G-tune" its a realtime tuner so itll let u know when u hit the right notes...its a guitar tuner but it works and its free..

another thing i do probably wouldnt work for u since u dont use FL but it has a pitch shifter knob in the sample thingy where you can shift the notes hella octaves. but id rather do it the old way unless im doing my joker voice. hope this helps if so charge it to Allah.

I think listening to as much songs as you can in the musical style you like the most, paying attention to how their vocal harmonies are formed, and trying to reproduce them by yourself would be a nice way to start.

Another good way is to listen to acapella versions, because there you may hear the harmonies more isolated.

Of course, musical theory is the best start.
