what is a press kit some of you are asking.
A press kit is a package of goodies you put together that you give out alongside of your demo to record companies and A&Rs
they include professional photos of yourself or your group. When i say professional photos not some pictures you took with a digital camera they have to be real pictures from a photo shoot that you had or go pay a professional by the hour to take pictures of you. You pictures and your poses are important, image is important what these lables and people think about your look will determind if they even listen to da demo tape or open up tha press kit.
Tha cover should be plastic with a picture of yourself and the title of your demo or whatever you want to call it
it should have a index of everything that can be found in the press kit.
Tha press kit should include a bio photos the demo tape with no more then four songs and contact information
You should find a professional or a very skilled writer to write your bio it should read like a real bio not just you talking about where your from or nothing like that. The bio should discribe how long you have rhymed where your from what you trying to bring to the game and why should lables choose you. Your bio needs to hype you up more then you can.
The demo tape needs to be at least 3 songs at most 4. They should be your best songs, and if you got some songs ready for the radio already that is even better. Lables like when you are already for the game and they dont need to prep you much. The very best song should be first they should be short songs and have very gooooood quality so if u use a home studio its best to pay for studio time for your demo.
Aside from the regular goodies in a press kit you also want to have a short resume of all the things musically you have done. If you have done shows parites or payed gigs they want to no about it so make sure you add that stuff it could work for you. Always have more then one press kit and always update them
